Biography
I was born and raised in the area. I have a Michigan teaching certificate, and I taught for over 15 years. I have experience in first, third and fourth grades. My experience as a classroom teacher caused me to want to learn more about how to effectively teach reading. I pursued a Masters degree in Reading and transitioned to working as a Reading Intervention teacher. While working in that role, I began working as an adjunct at SAU, teaching a course in reading assessment. Eventually, that experience led me to pursue full-time employment in the School of Education. I teach courses in early childhood education, reading, and critical skills for educators. I live nearby with my husband and two children.

Why SAU
I never planned to teach at the college level. An opportunity arose to try something new and challenge myself several years ago as an adjunct professor. I was surprised how much I loved working with the students. The energy, passion, optimism and fun of the students, along with my desire to keep learning, is what brought me to SAU.
